The CBBH Governor Met with the IMF Delegation

On May 16, 2016, Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) Senad Softić, Ph.D. and his associates met with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Sarajevo. The IMF delegation was led by the IMF Chief of Mission for BH Mr. Nadeem Ilahi. The IMF Mission is visiting BH in order to discuss with the government representatives about potential new program of this financial institution with Bosnia and Herzegovina.              

During the discussion, Governor Softić informed the IMF Delegation on the activities of the CBBH, stressing that the CBBH is intensively working on the implementation of its Strategic Goals. The CBBH, within its legal jurisdiction, wants to persist on the maintenance of the institution independence and its own activities, to which representatives of the IMF gave strong support. 

In this conversation, there was specially emphasized the need for better banking  coordination  and active participation of all stakeholders in the financial and banking system - the CBBH, the Entities’ Banking Agencies and the Deposit Insurance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina - in terms of mutual cooperation and joint coordinated actions. It is also necessary to have closer cooperation within the Standing Committee for Financial Stability, with the aim of preserving the financial stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina, being a common interest of the Central Bank and the IMF. Therefore, the future program with the IMF needs to result in improvement the  current condition of  the economy, especially in the banking and financial sector in BH, it was concluded during the meeting of CBBH representatives and the IMF.
