Darko Tomaš

Darko Tomaš was born on August 23, 1980 in Gradiška. He finished Elementary school and Gymnasium in Prnjavor, as the best pupil in his generation. He finished his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka. He was awarded a special award from the Faculty of Economics and a Golden Plaque from the University of Banja Luka as a student of the generation. During his studies, he performed the duties of a Student Vice Dean. At the Faculty of Economics, in 2008, he defended his Master thesis entitled "Characteristics and Importance of Sampling in the Audit of Financial Statements". In 2016, he defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled "Process Modelling in Internal Audit in Order to Eliminate Fraud in Business" at the same Faculty. As an author, he publishes over 20 scientific and professional works in the field of accounting and auditing.

Since 2004, he has been working at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka as an Assistant at the Department of Accounting and Business Finance, since 2008 as a Senior Assistant, in 2017 as an Assistant Professor, and since 2022 as an Associate Professor. Since 2018, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Banja Luka. In the period from 2012 to 2016, he was the Director of the Republika Srpska Health Insurance Fund. In the period from 2008 to 2012, and from 2016 to April 2023, he served as the Mayor of the Prnjavor Municipality, and from April 2023 as the Mayor of the town of Prnjavor. From 2004 until today, he was an Expert Associate at the Institute of the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka, also in the audit companies EF Auditor and BL Auditor Banja Luka, member of the Supervisory Board of Investiciono-razvojna banka Republike Srpske, member of the Audit Committee at Aura Insurance Banja Luka, member of the Supervisory Board and of the Presidency of Republika Srpska Association of Municipalities and Cities, and a member of the Accounting and Auditing Council of Republika Srpska.

He is Certified Auditor, and since 2008, he has been a member of the Board for training and education of accountants, auditors, financial personnel and other related professions at the Association of Accountants and Auditors of Republika Srpska.

By decision of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was appointed as a member of the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for a mandate period of six years, starting on January 3, 2024.
