High Representative Christian Schmidt: CBBH is a key factor in the macroeconomic stability BH 9/27/2022 Tweet High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt visited the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) today, September 27, 2022. In a conversation with the CBBH Governor, Senad Softić, Ph.D., the High Representative emphasized that the CBBH, as a state institution established by Annex 4 of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BH, has been a key factor in the stability of the state, and that the continuity of its work, the unhindered execution of constitutional and legal obligations, and political independence must not be brought into the question. "This year, the CBBH celebrated 25 years of its successful operations. During that time, in complex and challenging circumstances in Europe, in the world and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the monetary stability of the country was maintained as one of the key factors of macroeconomic stability. In such times, with specific internal circumstances, the CBBH had to make exceptional efforts in order to preserve the independence and credibility of the institution, along with monetary stability. Precisely because of the circumstances in the country, in the past, and currently, the currency board and the stability, provided by this type of monetary policy, have proven to be the most suitable solution for BH. For all 25 years, we have been working in the interest of the state, the economy and the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that will be the case in the future as well," Governor Softić said during the talks. The time ahead is the time of new challenges. The CBBH will continue to act within its mandate and strive to respond adequately to all future challenges, while improving its operations and maintaining credibility and trust as the most valuable asset that the CBBH has.
