Governor Selimović will attend the IMF and WB Annual Meetings in Washington

Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D., will attend the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) to take place from 21 to 26 October 2024 in Washington.

The IMF and the World Bank Annual Meetings are a platform for central bank governors and finance ministers of the member countries to discuss global economy and policies in response to the challenges of achieving growth, equality and progress.

As a speaker, the Governor will present her view of the economic prospects and challenges for Europe and Bosnia and Herzegovina at the meeting of the IMF officials with governors and finance ministers of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe countries.

In addition to attending the plenary session, Governor Selimović will have a number of bilateral meetings with the IMF and the WB high level officials, and also attend other meetings organised by these international financial institutions. She will also attend a meeting of the Dutch-Belgian Constituency, which Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs to, and the regional meeting of central bank governors on further improvement of the payment systems of the countries in the region, with a focus on the project of introducing instant payments (TIPS). The aim of this project is harmonisation with the EU rules and standards and creating the basis for more efficient, faster, cheaper and more secure payments.

It is also planned that Governor Selimović will participate in the G30 Annual International Banking Seminar, one of the most important events in the field of global economy and finance, attended by central bankers, finance ministers, representatives of international organisations and leading economic experts with purpose of discussing key economic issues.
