The magazine "Banke i Biznis u BiH” (Banks and Business in BH) gave the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina a special award "Zlatni BAM" (Golden BAM) for financial education and inclusion in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The award ceremony was held in Banja Luka, and the "Zlatni BAM" was received by Vice Governor Ernadina Bajrović, M.A., on behalf of the CBBH.

This award has been given to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina for its engagement and the activities it has been undertaking and implementing for a number years in the area of financial education, primarily for young people in primary and secondary schools throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the projects implemented in high schools is the project "Educate the Educator," in which professors and students have training on financial management and then transfer knowledge to peers in their schools. This project, lectures and presentations, and the marking of the Global Money Week and the World Savings Day, included 930 students and 73 professors in 2023, while in 2024 this number increased to 1176 young people and 76 teachers/professors from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The CBBH has established the cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and participates in the project "Financial Literacy in the Countries Participating in the Dutch Constituency Programme" in order to increase the financial literacy of citizens. In October next year, the CBBH will host the OECD Annual Technical Support Meeting for Financial Education, for the member countries of the Dutch constituency.

In 2023, a several year lasting project with the European Fund for Southeast Europe – Development Facility (EFSE DF) was completed, which supported the development of educational plans and the training of the CBBH employees for future activities.

By signing the Memorandum of Cooperation in September this year, the cooperation with SOS Children's Villages began, including visits and education for young people within alternative care, as well as primary school children and young professionals. Also, at the initiative of the Governor of the CBBH, Jasmina Selimović,Ph.D., the CBBH has initiated cooperation with public faculties of economics and the Entity Banking Agencies with the aim of introducing financial education into the formal education system at the level of primary, secondary and university education, so that pupils and students could gain basic financial knowledge and skills needed to make responsible financial decisions in everyday life.

The CBBH is grateful for the award, staying committed to activities that support economic development through education and inclusion of the wider population in the country’s financial flows.
