Governor of the CBBH, Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D., continued a series of bilateral meetings

Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D., continued a series of bilateral meetings with high officials of international financial institutions within the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

Governor Selimović had a meeting with Eugene Rhuggenaath, the World Bank Executive Director representing the Constituency which Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs to. During the conversation, the key topics of cooperation between the CBBH and the World Bank were discussed, including support to financial stability, strengthening institutional capacities and improving investment environment.

Governor paid special attention to the discussions on the significance of implementation of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) for BH, pointing out that access to SEPA would significantly improve the country's integration into the European financial market and facilitate cross-border payment transactions for citizens and businesses.

 

The economic challenges in the region, with focus on green transition, energy security and the resilience of economies to external shocks were discussed at the meeting with Antonella Bassani, Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank.

On that occasion, Governor Selimović stressed the significance of maintaining macroeconomic stability and preserving monetary policy based on security and confidence, as key factors for the long-term development and integration of BH into European economic flows.

 

Governor also met with Alfred Kammer, Director of the European Department of the IMF. Current macroeconomic trends in BH and Europe, inflation pressures and geopolitical challenges were discussed at the meeting. The conversation was focused on the support to the European integration process of the Western Balkan countries, with an emphasis on BH, pointing out the significance of continuous support of the IMF through technical assistance and harmonization with the EU standards.

 

In addition to bilateral meetings, Selimović, Ph.D. attended the meeting of the Constituency of the Dutch-Belgian group, which Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs to. The meeting was an opportunity to coordinate positions and exchange information among the members of the Constituency. The Dutch-Belgian Constituency brings together the highest representatives of monetary and fiscal policies, and in addition to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Constituency includes Armenia, Bulgaria, Belgium, Montenegro, Cyprus, Georgia, Croatia, Israel, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Moldova, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Romania and Andorra.
