Governor Selimović held a meeting with ECB President Christine Lagarde

The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D. met with the President of the European Central Bank (ECB), Christine Lagarde, at a meeting held at the margins of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington.

The focus of the discussion was the importance of preserving the independence of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a foundation for stability, confidence and long-term economic development, and the continuation of cooperation between the CBBH and the ECB in the context of the European integration process.

The discussion Governor Selimović emphasized that the independence of the CBBH represents a pillar of stability and trust, that technical cooperation and knowledge exchange contribute to strengthening the resilience of financial systems, and that harmonization with European standards leads to deeper integration of BH into the EU.

In this context, Governor Selimović emphasized She underlined that "by strengthening institutional independence, increasing transparency, modernizing payment systems through the implementation of SEPA and TIPS, and adopting European standards, the Central Bank of BH is building solid foundations for a stable and resilient financial system."

The role of central banks in overcoming economic challenges, macroeconomic developments in Europe, inflationary pressures and strengthening the resilience of financial systems were also discussed.

The meeting took place in a constructive and partnership atmosphere, with a shared commitment to the European future of cooperation between the two institutions in the context of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path to European integration.
