Meeting of the CBBH Management with the International Monetary Fund Mission

The Management of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Governor Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D. met with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, led by the Head of the IMF Mission to BH, David Amaglobeli.

During the meeting, the current economic and financial trends in Bosnia and Herzegovina were discussed, with a special focus on preserving the independence of the Central Bank of BH and the long-term sustainability of the currency board as the foundation of monetary stability.

The financial sector stability was also discussed, including the required reserve framework, banking sector reform, and cooperation with the Entity Banking Agencies and the Deposit Insurance Agency.

A special segment of the discussion was related to the negotiations on the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union and economic implications of the process, as well as progress towards joining the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).

The IMF mission expressed its readiness to continue to provide support through technical assistance and advisory activities with the aim of further strengthening the capacities of institutions and improving economic policies in the country.

On this occasion, Governor Selimović said: "Maintaining a regular dialogue with the International Monetary Fund is very important for strengthening institutional capacities and economic stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We appreciate the IMF's continued support, especially in the field of technical assistance, which helps us improve policies and reform processes. The Central Bank of BH remains committed to preserving stability and transparency, as well as to the European path of our country."

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina continues its mission of preserving financial stability, developing reforms and actively cooperating with domestic and international partners, with the aim of ensuring the long-term sustainability and integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into European and global economic flows.
