On 29 and 30 September 2025, the European Commission hosted the annual Vienna Initiative Full Forum in Brussels, one of the most important gatherings dedicated to financial stability, capital market development and integration of the countries of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (CESEE).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented at this event by the Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D. and the Director of the Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jasmin Mahmuzić.

This year's edition has been dedicated to the role of the Savings and Investments Union (SIU) project in strengthening the competitiveness, stability and investment capacity of CESEE economies. Participants will consider the benefits and challenges of linking savings with productive investments through deepening capital markets and strengthening financial integration.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D. emphasized: "Maintaining macroeconomic and financial stability is crucial for the progress of our country. Forums such as the Vienna Initiative are of exceptional importance because they allow us to further strengthen capacities and improve the integration of the financial system of BH into the broader European framework through cooperation with European institutions and international partners. In this way, we strengthen the resilience of the economy and build trust, which is a prerequisite for long-term development."

"During the plenary sessions and panel discussions led by representatives of the European Commission, ECB, IMF, EIB, EBRD and banking regulators, we discuss the strengthening of financial systems and investments in the region through the integration of capital markets, the resilience of the banking sector and better cross-border cooperation. Special attention is paid to the role of supervisory institutions, the SEPA access for the benefit of citizens and the economy, the competitiveness of the CESEE market, the development of market infrastructure and additional support for small and medium-sized enterprises. The Banking Agency of the Federation of BH, through the implementation of the EU regulatory framework and best practices, contributes to financial stability, strengthening market dynamics and sustainable growth and development in the region," said Director Mahmuzić.

The European Bank Coordination “Vienna” Initiative acts as a public-private platform for preserving financial stability and coordinating policies in emerging Europe. It involves the European Commission, international financial institutions, EU institutions, and supervisory authorities from home and host countries of European banks. The geographical scope extends beyond the EU, with a strong focus on the CESEE region.

The participation of Governor Selimović and Director Mahmuzić confirms the active role of Bosnia and Herzegovina in regional and European processes of financial cooperation, market integration and institutional capacity building.
