CBBH and EBRD: Joint Commitment to Reforms and Sustainable Development of BH

In the premises of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Governor Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D. together with members of the CBBH Management, met with a high level delegation of the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), consisting of 14 members. The high level delegation was led by Ms. Elisabeth Vitzthum, the EBRD Director for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting was held as a part of the official Consultative Visit of the EBRD Board of Directors to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is organised every four to five years, with the aim of reviewing the progress of reform processes and strengthening mutual cooperation. This year, the visit takes place in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from September 29 to October 3.

During the meeting at the CBBH, current economic and financial reforms, strategic priorities of the EBRD, and development challenges and opportunities facing Bosnia and Herzegovina were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening investment environment, sustainable growth and regional stability.

On this occasion, Governor Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D. stated:

"Cooperation with the EBRD is highly important for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the foundations for long-term growth and development of our economy are built through their projects and support. This visit is a confirmation of a stable partnership and joint commitment to continue working on strengthening the financial system, improving the business environment and moving closer to European standards."

Speaking about specific areas of cooperation, the Governor pointed out:

"The EBRD is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's key international partners. Their investments in energy sector, infrastructure, small and medium size enterprises and green transition contribute significantly to the modernisation of our economy and the opening of new development opportunities for citizens and economy."

It was also pointed out that macroeconomic stability, transparency in the public resources management and strengthening the institutions' capacities are key factors for further attracting foreign investments and achieving sustainable development.

The visit of the EBRD Board of Directors confirms the years long stable partnership of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the CBBH, as well as the readiness to continue joint activities contributing to the economic resilience and European perspective of our country.
