CBBH publishes estimates of core inflation and inflation in the sector of services for September

10/29/2025

On the basis of the available official statistics for consumer price indices in BH, and the relevant weights, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) has estimated (LINK) annual core inflation, for the first nine months of 2025, at 4.33%. The annual growth of average consumer prices in the sector of services has been estimated at 4.84%.

According to official statistics, in September, compared to August, inflation pressures slightly increased in the price categories included in the core inflation calculation (Graph 1). The strongest impact in September was that of telephone and fax services, due to the weight size. However, the very growth of the price of these services was so low that it did not affect the growth of core inflation for the first nine months (Graph 1). The persistence of core inflation, during the first nine months, was under the strongest impact of the prices of services in health care, and hotels and restaurants. In the price category of personal care, including the services of personal care and hairdresser’s shops, a price growth was also recorded, but the effect of high weight of price category on core inflation was stronger. Actual housing renting fees increased significantly during 2025, but the price weight of this type of services is rather low.

According to official statistics, the CBBH estimate of core inflation on the basis of official statistics differs by only 3 bp from our estimate of core inflation from the September round of nowcast.
