Governor and Ambassador of Germany:Support to Reforms and Integration within the European Market 11/14/2025 Tweet The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D. held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Alfred Grannas. The meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere, confirming the strong partnership and long-standing good relations between the two countries. Governor Selimović presented updated macroeconomic projections for Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the stable economic outlook based on the preservation of monetary stability and a credible currency board policy. Ambassador Grannas expressed support to reforms that improve the economic environment and strengthen institutions in BH. Special attention was paid to European integration and key initiatives in this process, including joining the SEPA, which will significantly improve BH's payment transactions and further connect the domestic financial sector with the European market. The exceptionally strong economic ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany were also emphasized. Foreign direct investments from Germany last year amounted to KM 255 million, making Germany one of the largest investors in BH in 2024. For the first six months of 2025, German investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to KM 174 million. The stable financial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina and further harmonization with EU regulations open up space for new investments and deepening economic cooperation. The Governor also particularly emphasized the excellent cooperation between the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Deutsche Bundesbank (Central Bank of Germany), which, through various programs of professional support, training and knowledge exchange, represents an important pillar in strengthening the capacities of the CBBH and approaching European standards of central banking. The interlocutors agreed that the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany will continue close cooperation in areas of mutual interest, with a focus on financial stability, modernization of payment systems and support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path.
