Euro Arrived in the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina

12/18/2001

Amount of 15 million euro arrived today (Friday, December 14,2001) in the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Euro will be distributed to the commercial banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the first working day in January 2002, because the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is obliged by Deutsche Bundesbank that euro will not be distributed before January 1,2002 when it will be put into the circulation in the countries of European Monetary Union. Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided that its fee for the commercial banks for buying of euro will be 0,1 percent in order to cover the costs.

Central Bank of BH reminds that the commercial banks can order and buy euro directly from the countries of European Monetary Union without mediation of Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has the duty to provide the commercial banks with enough amounts of domestic currency Convertible Mark, not the foreign currencies. However in order to assist the banks, Central Bank of BH will continue to supply them with euro in January next year.
