Banking Agencies Under the \"Umbrella\" of Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina?

A strategic working group for banking supervision had its first meeting on Tuesday 18th of September 2001. This group is assigned for dismissing strategic and structural issues of bringing banking agencies of both BH entities under the "umbrella" of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bringing banking agencies of both BH entities under the "umbrella" of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the conditions proposed by the IMF (International Monetary Fund) for the next standby agreement between IMF and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Members of this Strategic Working Group are CBBH Governor Peter Nicholl, Minister for Treasury of BH Institutions Anto Domazet, Minister of Finance of Federation BH Nikola Grabovac, RS Minister of Finance Milenko Vracar, Director of the Banking Agency of Federation BH Zlatko Barš, Director of the Banking Agency of Republika Srpska Dušanka Novakovic, Resident Representative of the IMF Bruno de Schaetzen and Vice Governor of Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Kovacevic.
At its first meeting that was held on 18th of September 2001 in Sarajevo Strategic Working group agreed on the terms of reference for its work. It was also agreed that two subsidiary working groups will be set up - the Technical Working Group and the Legal Working Group. Technical Group will be chaired by Vice Governor of CBBH Dragan Kovacevic, and will have its first meeting on 20th of September 2001. The Legal Working Group will be formed later. Its assignment will be analysis of changes that should be made in order to give a legal frame to this new arrangement.
Over the next two weeks, CBBH will prepare a document with a proposal of different options for bringing banking agencies under the "umbrella" of the CBBH and present it to the Strategic Working Group that will meet again in 3 weeks time to consider this proposal.
