Central Bank of BH Extended the Deadline for Taking Over of the German Marks (DEM) Coins From the Commercial Banks Until January 31, 2001

11/25/2000

Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Peter Nicholl decided to extend the deadline for taking over of the German Marks (DEM) coins from the commercial banks and the transfer of these coins in Germany until January 31, 2001. We remind you that the previous deadline expires on November 30, 2000.

Governor of the Central Bank of BH points out that taking over and transfer of German Marks (DEM) coins in the country of origin is not the obligation of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, although the CBBH has been doing that so far. Commercial banks should take over responsibility to make transfer of German Marks coins in the country of origin. In order to give them time to get ready for taking over of that job, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to extend the deadline for taking over and transfer of German marks coins, as mentioned above, until January 31, 2001.

German mark (DEM) will be in use in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the accord with the Law on the Central Bank of BH until January 1, 2002, when the German Mark (DEM), as well as other national currencies of EURO zone will be replaced by EURO.

Central Bank of BH wants to remind that payments bureaus have enough quantities of Convertible Mark coins at their disposition for all kind of needs in payments system.
