With the transformation of internal payments system and gradual extinguishing of payments bureaus (ZPP, ZAP, and SPP) the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is performing certain activities in order to continue regular supplying of commercial banks with cash.

For that reason, today there was held the meeting in the CBBH premises with the representatives of commercial banks, payments bureaus, PTT, IAG for payments system transformation and Working Group of the CBBH. The meeting featured defining of activities in distribution of cash after January, 1 2001. The meeting was attended by 70 representatives of commercial banks, payments bureaus and PTT from both Bosnian Herzegovina entities.

Besides from the Main Treasury, the Central Bank of BiH will ensure cash money supplying to commercial banks also from the treasuries in Main Units and branches of the CBBH, currently located in Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka, Pale and Brcko. Related to that, the CBBH will work on further organization and work improvement of these treasuries, and consider the establishment of new treasuries in places, which are the seats of a number of commercial banks. The payments bureaus showed their readiness to form new companies to be included into the distribution of cash to commercial banks, after the transformation. The PTT is also another alternative institution to this job.

It is agreed to create several working groups, which will be dealing with issues of rationalization and security in cash distribution.

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina expects that the solutions of cash distribution issue will be finalized by November 30, 2000, in order to use the period until December 31 2000, scheduled date of payments bureaus elimination, for testing the new system of cash distribution and elimination of potential omissions.
