The Governing Board of the Central Bank of B-H Approved the Reduction of the Fees of the Financial Services for Commercial Banks and Other Clients

9/19/2000

The Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina held its fifteenth meeting for 2000 in Sarajevo on Tuesday, September 19,2000.

The Governing Board endorsed a management recommendation to reduce the fees the Central Bank of B-H charges to commercial banks and other customers for a range of financial services. The aim of the Central Bank of B-H is to charge fees that cover its operating costs rather than to maximise profit. The current fees were analysed in the light of experience over the last year and it was found that the fees could be reduced. This will be of benefit to the banks and other customer of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Board was briefed on progress on payments system reform and establishing the new clearing houses for Bosnia and Herzegovina. They were told that progress is on track to have the new clearing houses operational by the end of this year.

The Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina also had a discussion of the economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and received a number of regular reports on the CBBH accounts, KM sales and purchases and the CBBH's foreign reserve holdings. The latest figure (September 18,2000) for the foreign reserves of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina is 919.785.541,84 DEM.
