Prague -The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Peter Nicholl, today in Prague, announced the exchange of the KM at three commercial banks in the Czech Republic starting the March 1st, 2000. The three banks are Bank Ausria Czech Republic, a.s., Ceskoslovenka Obchodni Banka, a.s. and Volksbank Brno a.s.
Ceskoslovenska Obchodni banka, a.s. has agreed to buy and sell the KM at its main branch in Prague and in the Slovak capital of Bratislava. Bank Austria Czech Republic, a.s. and Volksbank Brno, a.s. will both buy and sell the KM at their main branches in Prague. However Volksbank Brno, a.s. will also buy and sell KM at their main branch in the southern Czech city of Brno too!

All three banks have agreed to honor the official exchange rate of 1KM=1DM as listed in the CBBH Law and use the DEM rate against the Czech Crowns (CZK) and Slovak Crowns. (SKK)

"I believe that the acceptance of the KM at these three important commercial banks here in Prague, and in Brno and Bratislava will only serve to help foster further growth in our economic partnership as well as boost tourism and trade between the two countries", said Governor Peter Nicholl, at a press conference announcing the arrangement at the Inter Continental Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic.
It is now possible to exchange the KM for the local currency at selected banks in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.

Next month the Central Bank of Bosnia & Herzegovina will send a delegation to Turkey to negotiate similar agreements with Turkish commercial banks, with hopes of completing such arrangements before the start of the summer holiday season.
