KM Transactions in Slovenia

8/30/1999

The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Peter Nicholl announced that Volksbank from Slovenia was to commence selling and buying the Convertible mark (KM) in their banking offices in Slovenia from Monday 30 August.

"Slovenia was one of our important target countries because of its strong links with Bosnia and Herzegovina", Mr. Nicholl said, "therefore this agreement is important for it adds Slovenia to the group of countries where it is possible to buy and sell the KM. That group of countries is Austria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland and now Slovenia."

"I am very pleased that Volksbank has offered to become the first bank in Slovenia to deal in the KM, having in mind the leading name of Volksbank from Austria. Volksbank Austria has approached the CBBH with plans to commence the same arrangement with the CBBH . We hope that the whole group of European banks of Volksbank (Croatia, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia) will be introduced in similar deals. Although this is the first step in a banking relationship between the CBBH and Volksbank, it is evident that there are good prospects for that relationship to grow further in the future.", the Governor of the CBBH.
