Commercial Banks in BiH are Liquid

In consideration of large number of requests of the media, relating to the crisis at the world financial markets, which caused a certain fear amongst BiH citizens, and which consequently led to an increased number of requests for cash payments in Euros, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) would like to provide the following statement:

In accordance with the requests of the commercial banks, CBBH will be providing the necessary quantities of cash in Euros on the basis of the purchase of Convertible Mark (KM) in the shortest possible period of time, taking into account the high degree of the current liquidity of banks. So far, 100 million Euros have been provided in cash, and further activities shall be carried out in accordance with the requests of the commercial banks.

Considering that all the commercial banks in BiH are liquid and given the continuing efforts of the CBBH and commercial banks, we hope that the citizens shall preserve the acquired confidence in the banking sector, as their requests shall be met within the shortest possible period of time, and possible stoppages in payments are a pure technical issue. Although CBBH is exclusively responsible for provision of cash of Convertible Mark (KM), it got engaged into the process of transport of cash in Euros, with the aim to assist the commercial banks and preserve the confidence in the banking sector.

Please note that foreign reserves of the CBBH have been invested in a safe manner in foreign banks and they are a guarantee of the convertibility of domestic KM currency.
