World Savings Day, October 31, is this year greeted by the conditions brought about by the financial crisis, which has swept across the globe, and of which indirect effects are being felt even in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In view of World Savings Day, the Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Kemal Kozarić points out that savings becomes one of the key generators of crediting, providing opportunities for new investment, development of the country, employment opportunities, and the improvement of living standards for citizens.

''I hope that citizens will keep their confidence in commercial banks, but also that banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina will appreciate their depositors and reward their trust'', said Governor Kozarić.

Even though all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are not in a position to save, figures indicate that deposits of Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens with banks at the end of September 2008, amount to KM 5,8 billion, which is an increase of over one billion KM or 21% in relation to results from September last year.
