The CBBH Governor Meeting the Bankers

On September 22, 2009 the Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) Ph.D.  Kemal Kozarić and his associates talked in the actual subjects in the banking industry. With the directors of the commercial banks in BH, of Banks Association of BH (BABH), and the representatives of the banking and financial institutions.


The Governor Kozaric invited the commercial banks to credit more strongly the corporates and the households, considering the fact that the banks are extremely liquid and that they hold quite more funds over the required reserves that could be put in the crediting function.

The conclusion of the meeting was that the commercial banks representatives, in cooperation with the Entities Ministries of Finance and the Agencies for Banking Supervision, should start the activities on drafting the sub-legal enactments for the implementation of the State Law on the protection of consumers in order to enable its implementation.

The participants have welcome the recent decision of the Banking Agency for Supervision on policy relaxation related to the approval of credits to citizens, and suggested that the similar decision is brought for the economic entities aiming to ease their business operations in the conditions of the economic crisis.

The issue of commercial banks taxation was also discussed, and they emphasized need to adjust the regulations from the tax regulations area for the Entities and BH Brcko District. By this, the business regulations certainty would be improved at the whole area of BH.

It was also agreed to improve the system of the collection of money due when in question are the money enforcement. It was decided to establish the working group featuring the representatives of Entities Ministries of Finance, Banking Agencies for Supervision, BABH and CBBH who will create and suggest the amendments and supplements of the Law on payments transactions, Law on the enforcement procedure and the Law on Bill and Check.

The participants of the meeting were addressed also by the Head of Mission of the International Monetary Fund, (IMF) in BH, Costas Christou and of the Office of the World Bank (WB) in BH, Marco Mantovanelli, who in short informed the attendees on the activities related to the Stand by arrangement with the IMF and the plans of the WB for the credit line of assistance to small and medium size enterprises in BH.
