Italian Ambassador Visited CBBH

Today, on October 15, 2009, H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Italy Mr. Raimondo de Cardona, with his associate, visited the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) and in discussion with the Governor Kemal Kozarić, Ph.D., expressed the readiness of his country for strengthening the economic cooperation with BH.

Italy is the forth trade partner of BH and statistics illustrate that in this year, the export from BH to Italy has been decreased by around 30%, while the import from Italy to BH has been decreased by around 20%. These records illustrate that the cooperation and sales of BH products to the Italian market and vice versa, could be much better, the collocutors concluded. The Governor emphasized the negative image of BH abroad which also influences the economic relations of BH with other countries.

Italy is interested in stronger investments, while in total foreign direct investments in BH, this country participates with 2, 3%. Presence of Italian banks at BH market shows that foreign investments in BH can be successful, said Governor Kozarić and added that the promotion of BH is very important for withdrawal of the foreign direct investments, because new investments mean new employment.

The Governor informed the Ambassador about macroeconomic data, the CBBH activities and the necessity to maintain the currency stability. In the discussion they expressed a will for stronger cooperation of the CBBH and Bank of Italia in area of education and mutual informing on the  activities of these two monetary institutions.
