British Ambassador Visited the CBBH

10/29/2009

Today, on October 29, 2009, H.E. Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Michael Tatham visited the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) and talked with the CBBH Governor Kemal Kozarić, Ph.D. about the impact of the global economic crisis on BH, especially on the banking sector.

During the discussion, it was stressed that the banking sector has responded to the challenges of the crisis, whose impact today is more reflected in the real than in the financial sector. The Governor emphasized that the CBBH expects the banks to provide stronger support to the economy and citizens, and pointed out the significance of political stability and the fact that the country risk influences the interest rates.

The Governor informed the British Ambassador that, during the last session of the BH Fiscal Council, the Standing Committee for Financial Stability was established and its main task is to follow developments in financial sector on the basis of reports and stress tests and, if necessary, take certain measures.

He also focused on difficulties in the real sector and on the indicators that are the results of such difficulties.

On this occasion, Ambassador Tatham congratulated Kozarić on his reappointment to the function of the CBBH Governor and wished him and the institution to work successfully in the forthcoming period.
