Data On Counterfeited Banknotes In 2009

According to the data of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), the total of 8,873 counterfeited banknotes and coins was registered in 2009.

3,296 pieces of counterfeited banknotes of Convertible Mark were registered. Just like in previous years, the highest number of counterfeited banknotes was in denomination of KM 20 (1,866 pieces or 56.6%), followed by counterfeited banknotes of KM 50 (789 pieces or 23.9%) and KM 10 banknotes (375 pieces or 11.4%).

In 2009, there were 3,464 pieces of counterfeited coins of Convertible Mark registered, in denominations of KM 1, 2 and 5. Out of the total number of coins, the most of them were in denomination of KM 5 (2,042 pieces or 59%) and coins in denomination of KM 1 (1,220 or 35.2%).

Last year, 1,966 pieces of counterfeited Euro banknotes were registered. In the denomination structure, the highest number was taken by counterfeits in denomination of EUR 100, accounting for 1,825 pieces or 92.83%.


In addition to these currencies, 147 counterfeited banknotes in other currencies were registered, mostly in U.S. dollars (133 pieces), almost all of them in the USD 100 denomination.

Counterfeited banknotes of Convertible Mark are of poor quality and can be recognized by checking the security features of the Convertible Mark banknotes, which are published on the web site of the CBBH http://www.cbbh.ba/.
