Bosnia And Herzegovina remains In Focus Of Investors

Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) Kemal Kozarić, Ph.D. attended the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors and Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), organized in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astani, from 20 to 21 May 2011.

Within the first day programme, the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sven Alkalaj, gave the presentation on the country's investment potentials, which was attended by the large audience.

Governor Kozarić exposed the short breakdown of macro economic data, reminding that, after the stagnation period, BH economy shows signs of recovery, especially in metal industry, but more significant increase of the GDP can be expected in 2012. On that occasion, Governor Kozarić thanked to the EBRD President Thomas Mirrow for his engagement in our country. "During the 2010 year, being very challenging in economics terms, the EBRD continued with large  investments, so it is worth mentioning that during that year they invested in 14 new projects in the value of EUR 190. 2 millions", the Governor said. He added that the EBRD example is a clear indicator to all potential investors that there are chances for the successful business in Bosnia and Herzegovina , hoping that other people will follow positive example of the EBRD.

In his speech, Minister Alkalaj reminded on the unused resources of the country, focusing on the energy supply sector, the infrastructure, with special emphasize on the corridor 5C construction, production of the organic food and he invited the potential investors to find their business opportunities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  

During the second day, delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will meet with representatives of the USA Treasury and the European Investment Bank.

Five hundred officials from sixty countries attended the EBRD meeting this year, addressing the main topic on the global financial crises impact in the countries of the regions which are covered by the EBRD activities.
