Savings Growth In Spite Of Difficult Economic Situation

In spite of difficult economic situation and financial crisis, BH records the growth of citizens' deposits amounting to 6.1% in this year

«The International Saving Day is the day to remind us about the importance of savings, hoping that BH citizens  will have more chances and motivations to celebrate this day in the future», said the Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) Kemal Kozarić, Ph.D. on the occasion of the International Savings Day which is celebrated on October 31.

According to the CBBH data, at the end of September 2011, total citizens' deposits in BH commercial banks amounted to KM 6.88 billion, and comparing to the end of December 2010, they are higher by KM 393.3 million or 6.1%, while compared to end of September last year, they are higher by KM 721 million or 11.7%.

Citizens' deposits share takes 53.7% in total deposits of all local institutional sectors with commercial banks in BH.

Out of total citizens' deposits, demand deposits share takes KM 2.73 billion or 39.7% while termed and savings deposits amount to KM 4.15 billion or 60.3%.

Given the currency structure, citizens' deposits in KM currency amount to KM 2.31 billion or 33.6%, deposits in Euro currency amount to KM 4.10 billion or 59.6% and deposits in other foreign currencies amount to round KM 470 million app. or 6.8%.
