Significant Decrease of Counterfeits in 2012

According to data of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) in 2012, total of 4.007 pieces of counterfeited banknotes and coins in all denominations was recorded, being 46.24% less compared to 2011, and 14.34% less against the amounts of 2010. 

Out of total counterfeits number, 3.607 pieces were counterfeited banknotes and coins of the convertible mark. Out of that, there were recorded 971 KM banknotes, being the decrease of 15.27% related to 2011.

Given the KM coins, there were registered 2.636 pieces of counterfeits, being 55. 34 % less compared to 2011 total.

A for the denomination structure, the most counterfeited KM banknotes were in denominations of 20KM (531 pieces), 50KM (215 pieces) and 10KM (178 pieces). Out of total counterfeited coins, the most counterfeited in 2012 was denomination of 1 KM (2.038 pieces), then 5 KM (540 pieces) and 2 KM (58 pieces). 

In 2012,  332 counterfeits of euro banknotes were recorded, representing the increase of 4.08% compared to 2011, and the most counterfeited banknotes were in the denominations of 200 EUR (109 pieces), 50 EUR (108 pieces) and denomination of 100 EUR (74 pieces). Also, there was recorded one counterfeited coin of 2 EUR.

Last year, 67 pieces of other currencies' counterfeited banknotes were recorded. Out of total amount, there were 43 counterfeited banknotes of US dollar (42 pieces in denomination of 100 USD), 20 pieces of British pound (20 pieces in denomination of 20 GBP), two pieces of Croatian kuna (1 piece in denomination of 1000 HRK and 1 piece in denomination of 200 HRK), as well as, one banknote of Swiss franc (1 piece in denomination of 1000 CHF) and Deutsche Mark (1 piece in denomination of DEM 500).
