Governor of the Croatian National Bank, Boris Vujcic, Ph.D. visited the CBBH

On 27 November, 2013, Governor of Croatian National Bank (CNB), Boris Vujčić, Ph.D. had a working visit to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH). His first official visit to the CBBH, Governor Vujčić used for a variety of activities, which included meetings with the senior management, led by Governor Kemal Kozarić, Ph.D. and also lectures to the CBBH employees and students of Faculty of Economics from Sarajevo University.

The talks of the two Central Bank Governors were focused on recently completed process of Croatian accession to the European Union, the specific role and tasks of the National Bank in this process, as well as new commitments that this institution took upon its completion. During the discussion, it was confirmed that the process of negotiation and accession was extremely time consuming, tedious and complex. Entering into negotiations requires a well-defined plan, with clear objectives, and experts negotiating team.

Governor Vujčić, who during the negotiations on Croatian accession to the European Union had the function of a Deputy Chief Negotiator, offered all the available technical and professional assistance to the CBBH in preparation for the process being ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the near future.

During the meeting, the Governor pointed out that the experience of the Croatian accessing negotiations was extremely valuable, not only for the CBBH, but also for other institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. "A high percentage of CNB staff permanently engaged in the negotiation process, and numerous obligations arising from the EU membership illustrate the seriousness and the work-load ahead of us. Therefore, we need already today to start thinking about ways to improve the own capacities, in order to face this process as ready as possible," Governor Kozarić pointed it out and thanked to the CNB Governor for his readiness to exchange the ideas, valuable experience and for offering the assistance.

In addition to the daily activities within the CBBH, Governors Vujčić and Kozarić met also with the Chairman of the BH Presidency Željko Komšić.
