12/11/2013

On December 11, 2013, the Letter of Agreement on Bilateral Assistance and Capacity Building Program, which will be implemented with support of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), has been signed in the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH).

The Agreement, which will be valid for three years (2014-2016) with the possibility of continuation, was signed by the Swiss Ambassador in BiH Mr. André Schaller, on behalf of the SECO and the Governor of the CBBH, Kemal Kozarić, Ph.D, thereby marking the start of the Program.

„As in all of our programs of cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are working together as close partners. The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina decides which capacities want to strengthen under the Bilateral Assistance and Capacity Building Program, i.e. in econometrics and macroeconomic modeling. At the same time, work on research papers and participation at the conferences and courses related to this topic will provide the opportunities for mutual exchange with participants from other central banks, including the Swiss National Bank", said the Ambassador Schaller on this occasion.

The Program will be implemented by the Graduate Institute of International Studies (GIIS) from Geneve. The purpose of the proposed program is to provide access of the CBBH to the technical expertise outside of the Western Balkans and to improve access to the best international practices, especially in the field of econometrics and development of financial models, the improvement of the quality of statistical data analysis and improvement of analytical and research capacity in key areas of the CBBH's activities.
