5/22/2014

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), in accordance with the legal regulations which defined the operations with BAM cash, will exchange BAM banknotes damaged in floods, in full amount, free of charge and through the commercial banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as was the case so far.

Natural disaster that has struck Bosnia and Herzegovina caused the certain amount of BAM banknotes, being in circulation in the flooded areas, to become damaged by the direct influence of water and humidity or in contact with those. The CBBH will exchange the damaged banknotes, found in possession of commercial banks, in the ATM, branches, vaults, or held by individuals and legal entities, and this will be done free of charge and through commercial banks in BH.

In accordance with the CBBH regulations, the commercial banks are obliged to accept from the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina damaged BAM banknotes, i.e. exchange them for cash suitable for circulation.

Prior to handing over the flood damaged BAM banknotes to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the exchange, the commercial banks are obliged to clean and disinfect, dry, if necessary, and to count and pack the subject banknotes in accordance with the CBBH regulations which have defined the operations with BAM cash.

In accordance with the Law, the CBBH does not perform the replacement of damaged foreign banknotes, but citizens can replace these banknotes, through the commercial banks in BH, as has been the case so far.
