High Representative Expressed the Full and Strong Support to the CBBH

High Representative Christian Schmidt has visited the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina today and talked to Governor Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D.

During the conversation, High Representative expressed the full and strong support of the Office of the High Representative to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, pointing out that the stability and independence of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina are in the interest of all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the country on the whole.

Governor Selimović thanked for the support of the international community to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and stressed that the role of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European integration process, particularly in case of opening negotiations of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Union is very significant. So, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to work on the strengthening of the institution and preserving the stability of the monetary system of Bosnia and Herzegovina as one of the key factors in the process of strengthening of BH economy and the forthcoming European integrations.

The Governor particularly emphasized the project of including Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Single euro payment area (SEPA), which covers the countries of the Western Balkans, and for which the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has the support of the EU. In this process, the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina continuously conducts activities on the preparation and construction of the necessary infrastructure and participates in all activities with other institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 High Representative Schmidt wished Governor Selimović success in her work and management of one of the most important state institutions.
