Governor Selimović at IMF Headquarters in Washington

The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Jasmina Selimović, Ph.D. visited the Headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, where she participated in a specialized training program for central bank governors organized by the IMF's Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM). This year, the IMF has allocated only one place for this prestigious training to Europe, which went to Governor Selimović.

In addition to participating in this program, Governor Selimović also used her stay in Washington for several key meetings with senior IMF officials and representatives of international institutions.

In a conversation with Adrian Tobias, Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM), the role of the CBBH in preserving monetary and financial stability, further cooperation with the IMF and the challenges posed by the European integration process were discussed. A special focus was on strengthening the capacities of the CBBH through technical support from the IMF.

During the meeting with David Amaglobeli, the new Head of the IMF Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the current economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, key reforms supported by the IMF, as well as the continuation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's cooperation with this international financial institution were discussed.

The meeting with Jeoren Clicq, the new Head of the Belgian-Dutch Constituency of the IMF, was an opportunity to highlight the good cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the member countries of the Constituency, and to discuss the role and priorities of the CBBH in the regional and European context and the importance of a coordinated approach in the process of integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the European Union.

Governor Selimović also held a meeting with Mark Horton, Deputy Director of the IMF's European Department, during which a special focus was on the role of the CBBH in the process of European integration. The priorities of the CBBH in adapting to European standards and practices were discussed.

These meetings represent a significant step in strengthening relations between the CBBH and the IMF, and at the same time a confirmation of the CBBH's commitment to improving its role as an independent, transparent and accountable institution. During all these discussions, attention was also paid to the issues of challenges faced by the financial sector, foreign exchange reserve management, strengthening institutional capacities and supporting macroeconomic stability in the country.

The CBBH remains committed to active cooperation with international partners, the aim of which is to ensure long-term stability and support the economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
